Dr Mahathir said that Ahmad Zahid’s short explanation, lasting only three minutes, clearly showed that the deputy prime minister did not care about the people’s concerns about the donation.
“This is a serious issue,” Dr Mahathir said after attending a public forum and rally in his honour. “Ahmad Zahid should have explained it the best way he could, instead of taking only three minutes to explain it,” he said.
Dr Mahathir said he hoped to be present at the Sultan at the Sulaiman club in Kuala Lumpur on Monday for a speech by deputy Umno president Muhyiddin Yassin. “If I have a chance I will be there, I hope Ali Tinju doesn’t come and disturb us,” he added. Ali Tinju is the leader of a group of Malay rights supporters who are defenders of the prime minister, Najib Razak.
